Refracted Glass Bead Magic Portal

This geometric piece feels like a magical portal. I wonder where it might take me. The glass beads refract light, casting beautiful colours, with a tiny sprite as the portal’s guardian.

I’m drawn to bright, shiny objects, and this chandelier-style ring pendant caught my eye in an apartment complex in Newstead, Brisbane, Australia.

I enjoy experimenting with patterns to create kaleidoscope-type imagery. Sometimes, the result feels magical.

These photos began as a single image, which I rotated, duplicated and combined. They’re new additions to my Kaleidoscope series of black-and-white artworks. If you enjoy repeating patterns, check out another journal entry where I used baby bird feathers to create an enchanting piece.

I explore and document urban and natural environments, often focusing on reflections, shadows, and patterns. My camera walks allow me to capture found objects and scenes that tell stories through everyday details. In my journal, I share these explorations and offer a glimpse into my process.
