Black and White Images of a Bitter Melon Fruit

The bitter melon ( also known as bitter gourd) is a fascinating subject for photography.  Its bumpy, cucumber-like exterior contrasts with its soft, seed-filled interior. Known for its bitter taste, this fruit also offers numerous nutritional benefits. This journal entry features black-and-white images of bitter melon slices, photographed with a macro lens to capture extreme close-up details.

One of the featured images of the bitter melon reminds me of ‘The Scream’, the iconic 1893 painting by artist Edvard Munch. He described the moment that inspired it:

“I was walking along the road with two friends – the sun was setting – suddenly the sky turned blood red – I paused, feeling exhausted, and leaned on the fence – there was blood and tongues of fire above the blue-black fjord and the city – my friends walked on, and I stood there trembling with anxiety – and I sensed an infinite scream passing through nature.”  (Source: Wiki Edvard Munch)
