Street Photography in Kuala Lumpur

This blog post features black-and-white street photography documenting abandoned chairs in the township of Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI), Kuala Lumpur. The bustling streets of KL always offer something interesting to capture,  making it a favourite playground for street photographers.

Abandoned Office Chairs

The focus of this post is the life cycle of a lone swivel office chair.  Once a functional piece of office furniture, it now sits broken and unusable, littering the sidewalk. Through this series of images, I’ve recorded its rough treatment and final demise as a discarded item. No longer serving its purpose, it stands as a piece of urban waste that should be tossed into a rubbish bin or skip.

The final image in the series is titled Alphabet Chair. The chair, found in an empty car showroom in TTDI, serves as a solitary figure in the otherwise vacant space. The showroom has since been refurbished and now operates as a Dyson Service Centre.

If black and white street photography interests you, I invite you to explore more of my work in the Urban Gallery.

I explore and document urban and natural environments, often focusing on reflections, shadows, and patterns. My camera walks allow me to capture found objects and scenes that tell stories through everyday details. In my journal, I share these explorations and offer a glimpse into my process.
