Plant Shape and Texture

The monochrome photo series is part of an ongoing botanical study, where I focus on capturing the shapes and textures of flora. Using a macro lens, I emphasize the fine details and intricacies of each found specimen, revealing elements often overlooked by the naked eye.

Many of these plants are already in the process of fading when I find them, with their colours slowly draining away as their life wanes. Watching them decompose is fascinating, as they gradually break down and transform into something new. This transformation often creates an entirely different subject for me to document.

“Decomposition, the process by which once-living things decay and return to the environment, becomes part of the artwork itself as the plant life fades away. I often continue photographing the subject through this breakdown, capturing the changing textures as the organic material decays.”

I explore and document urban and natural environments, often focusing on reflections, shadows, and patterns. My camera walks allow me to capture found objects and scenes that tell stories through everyday details. In my journal, I share these explorations and offer a glimpse into my process.
