Jackfruit Seeds with Fuzzy Mold

I’ve fallen in love with Jackfruit, also known as the jack tree. My first taste of this delicious fruit was in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where I discovered the joy of fresh, ripe, uncooked Jackfruit. After enjoying a tasty snack, I decided to save the seeds for future study and documentation. I left them in the sunlight to dry, once they felt dry, I placed them in a glass jar for storage. I closed the lid and promptly forgot about them.

Sometime later, I remembered the seeds and took a peek. To my surprise, the once-clean Jackfruit seeds were now covered with fuzzy mold and black spores – eek! Although unexpected, this transformation was a welcome one. I suddenly had a new, fascinating subject to study and photograph.

Black and White Photography of Mold

This post showcases a collection of black-and-white photos capturing the intricate, delicate mold that grew on the seeds. Using a macro lens, I was able to zoom in on the fine details of the mold spores, revealing their fragile beauty. The contrast of light and shadow in these images brings out the complexity of this natural process. For comparison, you can click here to see a black-and-white photograph of a nice clean Jackfruit seed.
